The Ettore bag is highly structured and singular. The bag is composed of two elements: a trapeze and a cylinder. This modern and graphic bag opens diagonally. With this straight-sided shape, D’ESTRËE is echoing the motif displayed through the ribbons on the brand’s best-selling hats.
With this design, Géraldine wanted to pay homage to Ettore Sottsass, a master of geometry and bold colors. “Sottsass’ shapes are simple, graphic, basically totemic,” comments Géraldine. “As for the colors, Sottsass considered them to be the true expression of life; to him, juxtaposing was an art, a way to liberate positive energy. I feel very connected to his process.”
Like Sottsass’ works, the Ettore bag merges audacity with simplicity. Perhaps the highest form of originality lies in the way the bag is carried: an aluminium cuff that is both light and solid, in which one places their arm. The cuffs are fabricated in France, after which the bags are then assembled in Italy by highly noted artisans. In each step of the process of fabrication, finishing touches are carefully reviewed for high-end quality.
