Rabbit Felt Hats…
The first hatter artisans traditionally made their felt with goat and camel hairs or even with wool. In the 1730’s, the idea came to produce felt with rabbit hairs which allowed to create hat with a better quality. This technique is used by our headgear that we selected for you because of their unique expertise 100% made in France.
Our headgear is famous for his dexterity and perfectionism. They work by hand and meticulously on every piece we propose them. Our felt are made of rabbit hairs previoulsy treated to obtain an unique material that goes with high quality.
Created 25 years ago, our headgear and its passionate artisans mould and form your hats one by one with the utmost care. First, the felt is prepared and moistened with steam then moulded with wooden forms. The next step is called the “castorinage” which produces a woollen effect in order to bring the hair out. Then, it is sheared and brushed. The hats are then reworked by hand for every finishing touches. Finally, the headband is settle and lined with gros-grain cotton.
